Rouen Business School Introduces New Research StrategyRouen Business School has reorganized its research around four new centres that will emphasize responsible leadership. Each centre, led by a professor, brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers around a theme that informs their research strategy over a period of 4 years. The faculty of Rouen Business School is committed to contributing to the discussion of current issues, including environmental concerns in supply chain management, new relationships between work and life and new banking and accounting regulations.The four new research centres and representative faculty members are: Responsible Finance This center focuses on developing a greater understanding of the complex financial products and accounting procedures associated with “toxic” products as well as regulation of the finance industry, particularly as it pertains to auditing. The head of the center, Professor Moez Bennouri, studies market microstructure, IPOs, banking, auction theory and experimental economics. Professor Anne-Laure Delatte specializes in international finance and has done research on economic crises in various countries around the world. Contemporary Pathways of Career, Life and Learning This center examines the complexity and unpredictability of today’s career paths. Research also covers employer-employee relationships and other areas of life, like family. Professor Arianne Ollier-Malaterre studies the boundaries between work and life. She recently published research about the effects of work-life initiatives on employees. Young People and Responsible Consumption This center explores issues relating to children’s eating habits, the generation of “digital natives,” effective communication with young people, and teaching responsible consumption. As part of this center, Professor Joël Brée studies obesity and the effects of advertizing on youth consumption. Distribution and Supply Chain Management This center focuses on advances in supply chain management, internationalization of retail, customer relationship management, and maximizing the consumer experience. The head of the center, Professor Othman Boujena, studies consumer behavior and marketing. Professor Jerôme Verny studies issues in supply chain management. In a recently published paper, he predicted the opening of a new North Sea shipping route. “2010 marks an important step for research and a new dynamic at Rouen Business School,” explained Henri Isaac, Director of Research. “The increase in the number of articles published in the top national and international journals and more generally, an increase in the school’s scientific production, demonstrates this.” Rouen Business School is actively participating in the current discussion of responsible management for the benefit of its students, who will become the managers of the future, as well as businesses, regulatory authorities, public officials and communities. Ranked as one of the top 10 business schools in France, the school is accredited Equis (the European Quality Improvement System) and AMBA (The Association of MBAs). The AACSB accreditation plan was accepted and will be finalised in 2011. Rouen Business School offers a wide array of programmes: 3 Bachelor programmes: Bachelor in Retail (ECAL), Bachelor in Business Administration (ISPP), and Bachelor of Science in International Business (IFI); the Masters in Management Grande Ecole Programme; and a wide variety of postgraduate programmes, an International MBA, 6 specialized Masters programmes and 3 Masters of Science programmes. In line with its goals, Rouen Business School is developing research led by its teachers and researchers. The School’s research activities centre on four poles: “Responsible finance”, “Career paths”, “Youth and responsible practices in communication”, and “Retail, customer and supply chain.” With a network of 170 international academic partners, Rouen Business School enrols approximately 3300 students, including 650 foreigners.
